Jann Stuckey MP, Member for Currumbin, today held a special ceremony to honour long-serving Justices of the Peace in the Currumbin Electorate.

“Our JPs provide a much needed and valuable service within the community,” Ms Stuckey said.

“It is with great pleasure that I acknowledge the significant contribution that these outstanding people have made.

“Doug Collier of Currumbin Waters is being honoured for 60 years of service along with Vic Burren of Tallebudgera Valley and Susan Gogolka of Currumbin Waters both for 25 years service.

“Only a handful of 60 year service awards have been issued and I feel very privileged to be presenting Doug Collier with this certificate and special service badge.

“These highly respected individuals work on a voluntary basis within the community and are an important part of Queensland’s legal system.

“JPs assist people with a range of services from witnessing legal documents to assisting with certain legal procedures.

“Serving in a role that demands such a high standard of conduct is something that those here today have shown to be a source of pride for their families and their local communities.

“I would like to thank the Pines Shopping Centre for their ongoing support in hosting this invaluable service which is in high demand, several times a week.

“I wish Doug, Victor and Susan all the best in their future endeavours and thank all the JPs in the Currumbin Electorate for their commitment to serving their communities.
