Member for Currumbin, Jann Stuckey MP is urging local residents to view the Gold Coast Airport’s draft Master Plan which is available for public consultation.

“The airport is a critical part of the economy on the southern Gold Coast and the city as a whole,” Ms Stuckey said.

“Their draft Master Plan is a planning document that proposes development concepts for the next 20 years to 2031, with a detailed focus on the next five years, including the forecast growth and facilities required to meet this growth.

“The document encompasses a range of issues from aviation traffic and ground transport development to the economic, environmental and community impact of the airport.

“It is critically important that the community and the airport are in step with one another as they face the benefits and challenges of growth over the next 20 years.

“The release of the draft Master Plan is an opportunity for the community to have their say on the development of airport activities for the next five years and beyond.

“Gold Coast Airport will see over five million passengers through its doors in 2011, with numbers expected to reach 16.3 million a year by 2031.

“The draft Master Plan will be open for comment by members of the public from now until 5 December 2011.

“Written feedback can be provided on the document, a copy of which is available to view at my office at 1/1045 Gold Coast Highway, Palm Beach.

“I welcome all residents to come in and view the draft Plan, or follow the link on my website for the online version.
