Jann Stuckey MP, Member for Currumbin and Shadow Minister for Small Business & Job Creation today called on the Currumbin electorate to nominate outstanding local businesses for the 2011 Telstra Business Awards.

“Small and medium businesses are the backbone of our community and their achievements and contribution to the local economy deserve to be celebrated through this prestigious national Awards program,” Ms Stuckey said.

“The Telstra Business Awards are an opportunity for customers, suppliers and supporters to highlight the outstanding owners, entrepreneurs, innovators and employees behind our best local businesses.

“It’s also a chance to recognise those businesses that are doing great things in our community through the Yellow Pages Social Responsibility Award.

“Business owners that have entered the Awards say they gain enormous benefits from reviewing their business during the submission process as well as from receiving the 70-page Business Health Check report, a benchmarking tool that can assist in identifying growth opportunities and business improvements.

“We have a thriving small business community in the Currumbin electorate that spans retail, food, tourism, beauty and health services and a number of unique industry operators,” Ms Stuckey said.

“The Telstra Business Awards present a perfect opportunity to promote our home-grown businesses and reward them for their efforts in boosting the local economy.

“Entries for the Telstra Queensland Business Awards close on Monday 4 April 2011 and winners share in $500,000 in overall cash and prizes.

“To nominate a business, you can go to or call 1800 262 3323 between 9am and 7pm Monday to Friday for further information about the Awards.
