Boost for Currumbin community groups

Member for Currumbin, Jann Stuckey MP has welcomed the allocation of over $82,000 in funding for six local community groups from State Government funding.

Ms Stuckey said organisations within the Currumbin electorate to receive funding in this round were:

• Coolangatta Senior Citizens, $24,181 to upgrade facilities
• Currumbin Dragons Paddling Club, $11,500, to purchase dragon boat and paddles
• Currumbin Palm Beach RSL Sub Branch, $6,818, to create animal heroes sculpture
• C&K Coolangatta Community Kindergarten, $31,809, to upgrade playground area
• Tugun Bowls & Community Club, $5,235, to change lighting to LED tubes
• U3A Twin Towns Incorporated, $3,050, to construct footpath and ramp

“It is great to see so many worthwhile groups receiving a much needed boost to their funds that allow them to continue their great work in our local communities.

“The Newman Government recognises and supports the valuable work being done by community organisations and the vital contribution they make to Queensland.

“These grants are designed for approved not-for-profit organisations and are not intended to replace existing sources of support for these organisations.”
