Member for Currumbin, Jann Stuckey MP, tabled a petition in State Parliament today with over 1400 signatures requesting a direct bus service to John Flynn Hospital.

“The enormous groundswell of support from the community surrounding this issue indicates that many people in the Currumbin electorate are reliant on public transport,” said Ms Stuckey.

“Residents are calling on this Government to re-instate the direct bus route to the Hospital from a location like the Pines Shopping Centre.

“Considering the fact that some local residents have to catch 3 buses to reach the hospital, I would suggest the Minister take it as a matter of some urgency.

“Individuals who require chemotherapy are having to suffer unnecessary travelling times that are completely unacceptable.

“Public transport infrastructure on the southern Gold Coast has suffered far too much neglect at the hands of state Labor Governments over the past decade.

“Residents of Currumbin are tired of the limited service that plagues our area.

“It’s about time the Minister listened to the people of the southern Gold Coast and took decisive action to provide the services that are desperately needed.

“John Ray of Elanora must be congratulated for his efforts getting this petition started, and I extend my thanks to the many local businesses and community groups that supported it.
