Jann Stuckey MP, Member for Currumbin, is encouraging residents to recognise the contribution of our volunteers during the 2011 National Volunteer Week.

“National Volunteer Week will be held from the 9th to the 15th of May and aims to celebrate volunteering around Australia,” Ms Stuckey said.

“This year, the theme for the week is ‘Inspiring the Volunteer in You’, raising the profile of volunteering and recognising the contribution of volunteers in our communities.

“Following the recent natural disasters, thousands of Currumbin residents showed their true volunteering spirit and donated their time and money to the flood recovery efforts.

“Currumbin is a close-knit electorate and volunteering is a big part of our way of life.

“There are many groups, organisations, clubs and businesses that rely on volunteers to get them through which is why they deserve our deepest gratitude and recognition during National Volunteers Week.
