Jann Stuckey MP, Member for Currumbin, is advising the Currumbin community that $500,000 has been made available through the Community Memorials Restoration Program to assist local governments and community organisations.

“This program provides dollar-for-dollar subsidies to local groups for projects to restore, repair, record, preserve or promote awareness of recognised valuable community property,” said Ms Stuckey.

“Grants of up to $25,000 are available for memorial restoration and up to $15,000 for cemetery related restoration.

While this latest round of funding will give priority to restoration of memorials that were damaged during the recent floods and Cyclone Yasi, Ms Stuckey is still encouraging local organisations to make an application.

“Applications close on Friday 26 August 2011, with all the necessary forms available at http://www.publicworks.qld.gov.au/community/Pages/CommunityMemorials.aspx
