Currumbin community groups receive big share of $14 million funding

Member for Currumbin, Jann Stuckey MP has welcomed a new year funding boost for local community groups through the latest round of Gambling Community Benefit Fund grants.

“Local community groups had received a big share of nearly $14 million from 2015’s first round of funding,” Ms Stuckey said.

“I am proud of my community, especially the hard working non-profit organisations who provide services to families, our elderly and even our furry friends too.

“They are vital to so many people and I am committed to ensuring they receive the most amount of funding possible.

“Whether it’s our local cricket club, our surf lifesavers or our animal care groups, it’s important we continue to get behind those making a difference.”

Successful organisations within the Currumbin electorate include:

  • Palm Beach Currumbin Lions Club, Volunteers in Policing, Purchase Equipment, $22, 183
  • Palm Beach Squash Club Inc, Upgrade facility and equipment, $24,000
  • Volunteer Marine Rescue Currumbin Inc, Replace Motors on rescue vessel 25,898.00
  • Coolangatta Senior Citizens Centre Incorporated, Upgrade Facility, $29,296.01

“The next funding round opens on 21 January and closes at midnight on 28 February.

“I encourage all local groups, however big or small, to apply for the next round of funding and make the most of this wonderful opportunity.”
