Feedback welcome on Airport landing proposal

7 May 2015 10:29 AMJann Stuckey Feedback welcome on Airport landing proposal

Member for Currumbin, Jann Stuckey MP is calling on residents of the southern Gold Coast to contribute to the consultation process on the Gold Coast Airport’s proposed Instrument Landing System (ILS).

“As Australia’s fifth biggest airport with more than 5.8 million passengers passing through in 2014, the Gold Coast Airport must continue to grow and develop,” Ms Stuckey said.

“To improve the reliability of services the Airport are proposing to install an ILS on Runway 14 for aircraft landing at the northern end.

“An ILS will provide guidance to pilots when landing in low visibility weather conditions which will reduce the need for diversions and flight delays.

“Residents of Currumbin, Tugun and Bilinga are not expected to experience any additional aircraft noise as a result of the ILS.  Palm Beach residents will experience an increase in aircraft noise when the ILS is used.

“This significant investment in the airport is good news for the Gold Coast.  Having a world class Airport with reliable and quality services opens the welcome mat to visitors, encouraging tourism and investment in our region.
