The LNP’s Shadow Minister for Manufacturing and Small Business has accused the Bligh government of being all at sea over tenders for Queensland Police boats.

Despite Labor’s Manufacturing minister Jan Jarratt claiming that the Bligh government supported local boat-builders – she has confessed our police boats had been built by a company in Yamba NSW.

“The last time I looked Yamba was more than two hours’ drive south of the border, in New South Wales,” Ms Stuckey said.

“Ms Jarratt needs to stop ducking questions about who’s building the latest batch of police boats.

“Local boat-builders can do the job and they want the work, but they’re very concerned that the contract will go south of the border.

“Industry information suggested the Bligh government was about to sign a $10 million-plus purchase order for the boats this week, and the purchase order was not for a Queensland company.”

‘The minister needs to come clean about this deal. The Bligh government is notorious for showing indifference to Queensland manufacturers and Queensland workers.

“It’s time for change. It’s time to get Queensland back on track.”
