Member for Currumbin, Jann Stuckey MP has welcomed the allocation of more than $160,000 for seven Currumbin community groups under recent State Government funding rounds.

Millions of dollars have been provided across Queensland through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund and the Jupiters Casino Community Benefit Fund.

Ms Stuckey said organisations within the Currumbin electorate to receive funding in this round were:

• Tugun Surf Life Saving Club, $31,309, purchase IRB and upgrade plumbing
• Currumbin Wildlife Hospital Foundation, $21,727, conduct Animals with Attitude project
• Tallebudgera Pony Club, $33,179, purchase tractor and training equipment
• Point Danger Branch Surf Life Saving, $30,440, replace 4WD
• Anglican Parish of Palm Beach and Coolangatta, $28,338, upgrade community hall
• Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane, Southern Star Community Services, $3,315, purchase multifunction photocopier
• Southern Gold Coast 60 & Better Program Inc, $12,259, upgrades to building and signage

“Many community organisations in Currumbin are stretched to meet the ongoing demand for their services so it is wonderful that the State Government can provide a helping hand,” Ms Stuckey said.

“The Newman Government supports the valuable work being done by community organisations and recognises the significant and vital contribution they make to the State.

“These grant programs provide much needed funds for community groups to help them provide the facilities and activities which make our communities better places.

“They are designed for approved not-for-profit organisations and are not intended to replace existing sources of support for these organisations.”
