Member for Currumbin Jann Stuckey MP said residents in Currumbin were fed up with hoons endangering lives after another serious incident was captured on camera by locals last week.

“Concerned local residents have sent me a series of pictures of two vehicles hooning around streets in the Currumbin industrial area, with a description of the vehicles and their activities.

“The photos have captured the dangerous driving of these vehicles and the total lack of control of the drivers who were obviously careless about the safety of their passengers or any other vehicles in the area.

“My office has sent these incriminating pictures to local police to investigate.

“There are several clear photos of the number plates of the cars involved, so there is a good chance our police will catch these criminals.

“Under an LNP Government, Queensland will have the toughest anti-hooning laws in the nation, seeing offenders’ cars clamped and taken off the road for three months for the first offence, and forfeited or crushed for any subsequent offence within the next five years.

“For any such laws to achieve their maximum potential it is vitally important to maintain the reporting mechanisms that have been established through my Hoon Watch forms and get hoons off our roads.

“Sadly, it would appear the hoons are back in force, terrorising local streets. They need to get the message that we as a community will not tolerate it.

“Residents and business owners in surrounding streets have had enough and are using my Hoon Watch initiative to write down vital evidence that can assist police.

“Hopefully with enough support, we can stamp out this disruptive and dangerous practice before any more lives are endangered or lost.
