Member for Currumbin, Jann Stuckey MP welcomed the recent opening of a new mixed-use public pontoon on Currumbin Creek at Winders Park.

“Currumbin Creek is an extremely popular waterway that draws a multitude of user groups of all ages and I am delighted to have been instrumental in gaining this infrastructure which assists public access.

“Whilst in government the LNP, through Gold Coast Waterways Authority, allocated $300,000 in funding for public infrastructure along Currumbin Creek.

President of Currumbin VMR, Mr Mike Brooks welcomed the new addition to the creek and said it would be great for the local community.

“I can see fisherman casting a line off the pontoon or kids jumping into the creek and enjoying themselves,” Mr Brooks said.

Ms Stuckey said the construction of this pontoon in such a prominent spot will attract creek users and provide a safe, easy access to the waterway.

“As we head into the warmer months I know this pontoon will be utilised by locals and visitors alike,” Ms Stuckey said.

“Earlier this year, another LNP inspired project,  the Winders Park boat ramp was reconstructed to promote a safer launch spot for boaties.”
