Member for Currumbin, Jann Stuckey MP, has applauded the launch of the Newman Government’s six month action plan for Queensland; the next phase in getting Queensland back on track.

“In a move that was unheard of under the former Labor Government, Premier Campbell Newman has followed up on the successful 100 day plan by outlining the Government’s plan for the next 6 months,” Ms Stuckey said.

“I am proud to be part of a Government with a focus and determination to grow a four pillar economy, reduce the cost of living and reduce unemployment.

“Residents here in Currumbin have already benefited from the Newman Government’s swift measures to lower cost of living and they will continue to benefit from this detailed plan for our future.

“In the last election we made five pledges to the people of Queensland and the 149 actions included in the six month plan fall under these five pledges.

“There are a number of actions that will directly benefit Currumbin and they include:
• Legislating to support the Gold Coast Waterways Authority
• Amalgamating South East Queensland bulk water entities to lower water bills
• Finalising the strategy and commencing the business case to deliver an increase in the SEQ rail network capacity
• Removing the waste levy
• Halving the planned public transport fare hike scheduled for January 2013
• Introducing legislation to streamline home sale contracts
• Preparing new, tough anti-hooning laws
• Providing crime fighting resources on the Gold Coast to focus on juvenile crime and alcohol management
• Establishing the major crime squad and relocating the illegal firearms squad to the Gold Coast
• Renewing the Neighbourhood Watch and Crime Stoppers programs
• Finalising recruitment of 300 new police

“I have a track record of fighting for my community and I will continue to work hard every day for the good of Currumbin.

“We have made it very clear to Queensland: that we will deliver on our promises.
