The on-going disaster that is unfolding in Queensland Health is a chilling glimpse of the future under Minister Schwarten’s whole-of-government human resources and payroll project, the LNP said today.

Shadow Minister for Public Works and Information and Communication Technology Jann Stuckey said the ongoing pay bungles affecting police and now Queensland Health staff showed the system was not working.

“Already several years late and millions of dollars over budget, it now appears that the Minister’s efforts to ‘change direction’ has resulted in Queensland Health staff being told to go to charities for help instead of being paid what they deserve,” Ms Stuckey said.

“Queensland’s public servants should be watching in fear at the way the Bligh Labor Government has bungled this roll-out.

“Since 2004, this government has spent $180 million dollars on this program and it has failed at its first real test.

“Robert Schwarten cannot be trusted to continue running a human resources and payroll project critical to the livelihood of Queensland’s public servants.

“It’s time to end the lies and excuses — Queensland’s public servants deserve to receive their proper pay on time and without these bungles.”
