“It is a great accomplishment for these Queensland tourism operators and excellent news for our State’s tourism industry,” Ms Stuckey said.

“In total, Queensland operators took out 13 awards including five Gold Awards, four Silver Awards and four Bronze Awards.

“While the winners are from all parts of the State, the Whitsundays was certainly the standout, claiming four Gold Awards and nearly half of all awards won by Queensland operators.”

The Qantas Australian Tourism Awards recognise the exceptional contribution tourism businesses, service providers and individuals make to the country’s tourism industry.

“After some really tough times, the Queensland tourism industry is showing strong signs of recovery with many operators recording their best results in six years,” Ms Stuckey said.
