Sport and Recreation Volunteers Recognised

The Queensland Government has announced that the 2010 Valuing Volunteers in Sport and Recreation Awards are open for nomination.

Member for Currumbin, Jann Stuckey MP is calling all local sporting clubs to nominate volunteers whose dedication and contribution to the community deserve recognition.

“Our sporting and recreation clubs are an essential part of our community, and we all know the backbone of these clubs is the volunteers who give up their time and put in enormous effort to keep them running,” Ms Stuckey said.

“These awards are a fantastic opportunity to acknowledge the fine work these volunteers do, which can so often go unnoticed or taken for granted.

“Details about the volunteer’s benefit to sport or recreation at a local, regional or state level; achievements in their work; qualities and initiative they exhibit can all be included in the nomination.

“Don’t miss out on this chance to show your volunteers that their hard work is valued.

The 2010 Award finalists will be announced during Queensland Week (29 May – 6 June) and will be recognised at a function later this year.

Nominees must be over the age of 18 and hold a current blue card.
