State funding boost for Currumbin community groups

Member for Currumbin, Jann Stuckey MP has welcomed the announcement that 7 community groups in the Currumbin electorate will share in over $136,000 in funds under the latest round of State Government community funding.

“Local groups have received these funds as part of millions of dollars provided across Queensland through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, and the Jupiters Casino Community Benefit Fund,” Ms Stuckey said.

Ms Stuckey said organisations within the Currumbin electorate to receive funding in this round were:

  • Coolangatta Bowls & Recreation, $12,000, to replace greens ditches
  • Gecko, Gold Coast & Hinterland, $18,357, to upgrade facilities and purchase computers
  • Coolangatta Tweed Heads AFL Club, $30,755, to install electronic scoreboard
  • Coolangatta State School, $28,476, to upgrade playground facilities
  • Currumbin Eagles Junior Rugby, $4,945, to purchase storage shed
  • Tugun Soccer Club, $27,381, to upgrade clubhouse
  • Palm Beach Neighbourhood Centre, $15,000, to purchase software

“Recipients of this round of funding illustrate the variety of valuable work not-for-profit organisations contribute to the wider community,” Ms Stuckey said.

“It is fantastic to be able to support the groups financially and assist them in continuing their widely appreciated work.

“The Newman Government recognises and supports the valuable work being done by community organisations and the vital contribution they make to the State.

“These grants are designed for approved not-for-profit organisations and are not intended to replace existing sources of support for these organisations.
