Member for Currumbin Jann Stuckey has called on GOLDOC to allocate some of the temporary seating for Commonwealth Games events in Currumbin to local schools and community groups after the Games.

“In recent weeks I have visited many schools and community groups and when I asked about some of their ‘wish list’ items a lack of seating for events was mentioned,” said Ms Stuckey.

“I wrote to GOLDOC and the Minister requesting some rows of seating and I really hope we get a positive response.

“We are excited to have the Games Beach Volleyball, Race Walk, Cycling Time Trial and Cycling Road Race taking place in the Currumbin. However, the electorate will experience considerable disruption when going about their day to day business during the Games period.

“This would be a fantastic Games legacy initiative and one that I am sure would be seen as a goodwill gesture and well-received by the general community, many of whom have shared their frustrations with my office.”

“I have no doubt the good people of Currumbin will embrace the Games and work around the travel and logistical challenges, but what better way to say thank you for their patience and support than by giving some of our schools and community groups a legacy gift of seating?

“After all, they are nurturing our future athletes and sportsmen and women.
