To celebrate National Volunteer Week 2018 this week, Member for Currumbin Jann Stuckey joined Volunteering Services Australia (VSA) and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (CWS) to pay tribute to the Sanctuary’s wonderful volunteers who have offered five or more years of service at a Volunteer Appreciation Afternoon Tea.

Monday’s event, held in the Sir Walter Campbell Centre within the Sanctuary grounds was attended by over 100 volunteers, and supported by CWS staff and hospital foundation board members.

“I am very proud to be celebrating National Volunteer Week here at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary where the spirit of volunteering and service have a long and respected history.”

“Their extensive volunteer program encompasses approximately 480 Volunteers across the park, wildlife, horticulture, and the very busy hospital.”

“The Sanctuary could not operate without these amazing individuals – they really are its lifeblood and fill the park with laughter, information and happiness every day.”

“This week in particular, our community gets to say thank you to all of them.”

“Monday’s ceremony included presentation of certificates to 38 volunteers for 10 plus years, and 72 volunteers for 5 plus years of help.”

“You can tell by the length of service of so many of these volunteers that they truly love what they do and keep coming back year after year.”

“With over 150,000 volunteers on the Gold Coast, the principle of helping others is alive and well” said Ms Stuckey.
